#WeekendCoffeeShare – Jacksonville Terrain Race

If we were having coffee, we would be on the way home from the Terrain Race in Jacksonville Florida. (Just a few more hours!)

Anyway, I just finished sipping a nice cup of hot Christmas Blend from the Starbucks inside of Target. I’m not sure what you got, but I hope it was nice and tasty like mine.

Now that we have drinks, I’d tell you how good the race went. I finished the competive heat without losing my band, though I can honestly say that I need to improve my running. That six weeks of torn calf muscle healing has really taken a toll on me. I finished though, and am healthy still, so I’ll count it a success.

That’s not the best thing though. My awesome daughter, who is a much better racer than me, took second female in the competitive wave! Her first pro podium, netting her a big check for $100! She was so happy standing up on that podium with that big check held high over her head!

Yes, I am a proud dad.

That was about it for us over the weekend. We tried to see the new Star Wars, but the theater was crazy and all but the front row was sold out, so we opted for “Murder on the Orient Express” instead. It was good, not to mention nice and relaxing after the race.

I guess that works out anyway though since my daughter wanted to re-watch “The Force Awakens” before going to see the new one. Perhaps we can do that tonight.

As for now, I need to check on the #FridayFictioneers link. I began a story on the way down, but never got to finish it. If the link is still good, I need to get on it. If not, I should probably still finish the story. Though maybe not in 100 words. We’ll see.

So, I’ll let you go. I hope to see you next week. ‘Til then, safe travels!

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Together Again

wp-image-1093036968If we were having coffee, I’d pour you a nice cup of joe and exclaim, “Aha, found you!”  This coffee share thing sure does move about.  Tonight, I’m drinking 8 O’Clock Colombian Coffee, so help drink up.  Any-who, it’s nice to sit for a few with a nice coffee and chat, don’t you think?

So what have you been up too?

As for me, I’ve been writing more.  That hasn’t necessarily translated into blogging more, but writing is writing, right?  The plan is to blog a bit more regularly, mostly short stories and poems, (like this #FridayFictioneers post from yesterday) while working on longer things.

“But, I wanna go out and play,” Shane wined.  He drug a plaid sleeve across his runny nose, looking up hopefully.

Sheyla looked down on her little brother with pity in her eyes.  “Not gonna happen little bro.  Mom would kill me if I let you go out there in the freezing.”

“Mom’s not here though.  She left.”

#DSFWeeklyRewind – Still Healing

cappuccino on tableAnd a mighty good Sunday to ya!  It’s that time again to look back on a week gone by and what all did and did not happen.  Or a few pieces of it anyway.  As always, I hope you are all doing well out there in internet land and have had a good week gone by, not to mention a good week on the way.

As for me, I’m still healing the torn calf muscle.  That, of course means no running and even being careful while walking.  Funny thing is that I do good as long as I keep gently using it.  It’s when I lay up on the couch or get out of bed in the morning that it gives me the worst of it.

It does seem to be getting better everyday, and I’m so happy about that.  I can almost see the day where I run again.  Almost.  I am waiting for that day, very impatiently.  Since it is better though, I’ve been in the gym, doing some lifting and other stuff that doesn’t require lots of lower body work.  So that’s good I guess, as I often neglect that kind of workout when I’m able to run.  Perhaps this little running setback can put me back on a more complete fitness schedule.

On a sad note, yesterday was my last Spartan Race of the season.  On an even sadder note, I didn’t get to actually run it.  I did however, get to hang out and watch as my daughter ran it.  I am so proud of her and the athlete she has become, and look forward to seeing where she goes in the future.

As far as the blog, I did not get anything done last week.  I hope to remedy that as this week progresses, but we’ll see how it goes.  I want to write more, and that more includes beginning to work on novel length ideas as well as shorter projects for the blog.  Writing is fun when there is time to do it, and I hope to have that time this week.  Again, we’ll see.

With all that said, I’ll let you go.  We’ve all got a brand new week, and opportunity to make the best of it!  Let’s do it!

#DSFWeeklyRewind is a weekly linkup hosted by Tara over at DaisySmileyFace.com.  You should totally go over and check out her page.  Maybe even write a post of your own for the linkup, and join the fun!

“Why would anyone live anywhere else?” Fred smiled, yellow teeth showing through a graying beard.

“Not rightfully sure bout that ma’self.”  Sissy smiled back her own yellow toothed smile, lifting a stringer of silver blue fish.  “Purty good catch today.”

Creative Beings – Part 3

Koth stood stiff backed just out of the shade of the command pavilion, performing the most important task there was on a battlefield.  The duty of protecting those who controlled the battle strategy was his.  But he was distracted.  His dark eyes scanned the battlefield that stretched to the horizon before him.  It had been three weeks since he had fought a worthy opponent, that fool smiling hulk, and the fact that it had gone unfinished chewed at his soul.

He scanned the field, hoping to see him again.  He did not.

#DSFWeeklyRewind – Not Running Sucks

img_20171021_130604_6521629058270.jpgFirst things first.  I would like to thank Tara over at DaisySmilyFace.com for hosting the linkup that seems to be taking the place of the MIA #WeekendCoffeeShare.  Also, I would like to wish her well and a speedy recovery as she recovers from her break.  It was my intention to join in last week, but I injured myself (more on that later) and just didn’t feel like doing anything.

With all that said, how are you all doing out there?  Hopefully well.  I’ve been okay, with the exception of having to learn to walk all over again.  It seems that I’ve torn a calf muscle, and so I’m limping all over the place now.  This does not make me happy at all, and I’ll tell you why.
