#WeekendCoffeeShare – Mid-January 2018

cappuccino on tableIf we were having coffee, I’d offer you a cup of this nice fresh brewed Seattle’s Best that I’m sipping tonight.  It’s good coffee.  Is it the best Seattle has to offer?  Maybe, maybe not.  That probably depends greatly on who you ask, but I think it will do nicely for us tonight.  If coffee’s not for you, I’d offer up some tea or perhaps some water.  Almond milk?  I don’t know, but we’ll find something for you.

Now that we’re all settled, let’s talk about the week gone by.  It was a pretty good one, if not as productive as I would have liked.

On the positive side, I’m starting to get my wind back as far as running.  Since my calf healed well enough to start running again, I’ve been slowly upping my mileage.  Saturday was my longest run since coming back, yielding 7 miles on a cloudy Saturday afternoon.  It was great!

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Jacksonville Terrain Race

If we were having coffee, we would be on the way home from the Terrain Race in Jacksonville Florida. (Just a few more hours!)

Anyway, I just finished sipping a nice cup of hot Christmas Blend from the Starbucks inside of Target. I’m not sure what you got, but I hope it was nice and tasty like mine.

Now that we have drinks, I’d tell you how good the race went. I finished the competive heat without losing my band, though I can honestly say that I need to improve my running. That six weeks of torn calf muscle healing has really taken a toll on me. I finished though, and am healthy still, so I’ll count it a success.

That’s not the best thing though. My awesome daughter, who is a much better racer than me, took second female in the competitive wave! Her first pro podium, netting her a big check for $100! She was so happy standing up on that podium with that big check held high over her head!

Yes, I am a proud dad.

That was about it for us over the weekend. We tried to see the new Star Wars, but the theater was crazy and all but the front row was sold out, so we opted for “Murder on the Orient Express” instead. It was good, not to mention nice and relaxing after the race.

I guess that works out anyway though since my daughter wanted to re-watch “The Force Awakens” before going to see the new one. Perhaps we can do that tonight.

As for now, I need to check on the #FridayFictioneers link. I began a story on the way down, but never got to finish it. If the link is still good, I need to get on it. If not, I should probably still finish the story. Though maybe not in 100 words. We’ll see.

So, I’ll let you go. I hope to see you next week. ‘Til then, safe travels!

#DSFWeeklyRewind – Still Healing

cappuccino on tableAnd a mighty good Sunday to ya!  It’s that time again to look back on a week gone by and what all did and did not happen.  Or a few pieces of it anyway.  As always, I hope you are all doing well out there in internet land and have had a good week gone by, not to mention a good week on the way.

As for me, I’m still healing the torn calf muscle.  That, of course means no running and even being careful while walking.  Funny thing is that I do good as long as I keep gently using it.  It’s when I lay up on the couch or get out of bed in the morning that it gives me the worst of it.

It does seem to be getting better everyday, and I’m so happy about that.  I can almost see the day where I run again.  Almost.  I am waiting for that day, very impatiently.  Since it is better though, I’ve been in the gym, doing some lifting and other stuff that doesn’t require lots of lower body work.  So that’s good I guess, as I often neglect that kind of workout when I’m able to run.  Perhaps this little running setback can put me back on a more complete fitness schedule.

On a sad note, yesterday was my last Spartan Race of the season.  On an even sadder note, I didn’t get to actually run it.  I did however, get to hang out and watch as my daughter ran it.  I am so proud of her and the athlete she has become, and look forward to seeing where she goes in the future.

As far as the blog, I did not get anything done last week.  I hope to remedy that as this week progresses, but we’ll see how it goes.  I want to write more, and that more includes beginning to work on novel length ideas as well as shorter projects for the blog.  Writing is fun when there is time to do it, and I hope to have that time this week.  Again, we’ll see.

With all that said, I’ll let you go.  We’ve all got a brand new week, and opportunity to make the best of it!  Let’s do it!

#DSFWeeklyRewind is a weekly linkup hosted by Tara over at DaisySmileyFace.com.  You should totally go over and check out her page.  Maybe even write a post of your own for the linkup, and join the fun!

#DSFWeeklyRewind – Not Running Sucks

img_20171021_130604_6521629058270.jpgFirst things first.  I would like to thank Tara over at DaisySmilyFace.com for hosting the linkup that seems to be taking the place of the MIA #WeekendCoffeeShare.  Also, I would like to wish her well and a speedy recovery as she recovers from her break.  It was my intention to join in last week, but I injured myself (more on that later) and just didn’t feel like doing anything.

With all that said, how are you all doing out there?  Hopefully well.  I’ve been okay, with the exception of having to learn to walk all over again.  It seems that I’ve torn a calf muscle, and so I’m limping all over the place now.  This does not make me happy at all, and I’ll tell you why.

#WeekendCoffeeShare – A Good Week

cappuccino on tableIf we were having coffee, I’d say that it’s late and that I probably shouldn’t be drinking this as I raise cup to lip and take yet another sip.  You would know that this is not the first time that I’ve indulged at too late an hour though, and tell me that I’ll be fine.  And you’re probably right about that, by the way.

So, might I get you a cup of something?  Coffee, tea, water, or juice?  You may as well indulge with me, and follow me down the path of poor nighttime beverage decisions.  Don’t worry, I’ll lead the way.

2017 is absolutely flying by.  Weeks seem like days, days like minutes, and so on, and so on.  I can say though, that the past week was a fairly good one as I did some of the things that I’ve been missing out on lately.  Those things included writing a bit, strumming the ole guitar, running, and bike riding.

#WeekendCoffeeShare – Where does the Time Go?

cappuccino on tableIf we were having coffee, I’d say how sorry I am that I’ve been so absent for so long.  Then, I would offer you up some of this nice, strong 8 O’Clock coffee that I’m drinking.  Coffee not your thing?  I’m sure that we can rustle something up.

There, isn’t that nice?  Now that we’re all settled, let’s talk a bit.

Honestly, I’m not sure where the time goes.  Only that it keeps on slippin’ away.  I, like you, try as hard as possible to make the most of every minute, but so often when looking back on a week, I find myself disappointed.  I see the things that I wanted to, intended to, meant to do, that for whatever reason, just did not get done, and it frustrates the daylights out of me.

Does that ever happen to you?
